Lagaras struts wares in national ranking

DANCESPORT Team Cebu City once more stamped its class in the 2010 Dancesport Council of the Philippines Inc. (DSCPI) first quarterly ranking and competition over the weekend with six gold medals, eight silvers and five bronze at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Sportswriters Association of Cebu awardee Charlea Lagaras and partner Ronnie Vergara strutted the stuff that won her international accolades winning the Latin competition of the premiere Grade A category.

Lagaras and Vergara upended national team members and Southeast Asian Games medalists Erolle Melencio and Dearlie Gerodias, who settled for the silver medal.

It was John Paul Mocorro and Therese Quilaton who led the Cebu medalists winning two golds in the Latin and standard dances of the Juvenile C division.

Meanwhile, Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl CaƱeda topped the Latin Youth A event, and also won a bronze in the Standard dance of the same division.

DTCC director Eleanor Hayco and Lloyd Bartolini, on the other hand, topped the Standard Special Event 2, while Danilo Gagani and Princess Inocando took the gold medal in the Standard Special 1 event.

The silver medalists for Cebu were Mark Flores and Michaelyn Ledda (Standard Special Event 1); Marlon Alino and Kinue Sakurai (Standard Senior C), Anselmo Estillore and Hayco (Latin Special Event 2); Jeric Canoy and Jessa Briones (Standard Youth A); Jason and Kathleen Diluvio (Standard Junior C); and Rinzon and Reyana Elarcosa (Standard Junior A and C).
