Costanilla: Dos Gwapos to anchor a TV show-A A +A

WHO doesn’t know Daloydoy? When veteran broadcaster Max Andrino was still an active program handler, Daloydoy—his radio monicker—became a household name, a byword amongst his millions of fans all over the Visayas and Mindanao. They were his very loyal listeners, following his daily program titled Mga Pasiaw ni Super Daloydoy.
Maxis already an institution in the local broadcast industry. He started out as a radio drama talent until he rose to become a scriptwriter then a program host. His jokes really tickled and delighted his legions of fans and the novelty songs that went with his wisecracks and punch lines added life and color to his daily radio show. His was the familiar voice that said “LKK kang dako!” in referring to a radio participant who could not answer his simple questions on almost anything and everything under the sun.
When Max retired after years of broadcasting, I invited him to join a local media club as one of its officers. Eventually, the two of us formed Dos Gwapos, a local standup comedy duo. We have been invited to do shows in Cebu’s municipalities although we are not professional standup comedians. When Anad partylist Rep. Jun Alcover headed the Cebu Association of Media Practitioners, our club produced Bahakhak ug Katawa with the Dos Gwapos and other local artists, most of them media colleagues.
Starting next month, Dos Gwapos will anchor a weekly television show over Cebu Catholic Television Network (CCTN) 47. This program shall feature jokes and dances and other entertainment treat from ourselves and our invited guest artists. The TV show is titled Daloydoy and Friends—and Max told me he cannot wait for August to come. This show will, therefore, provide Max’s radio listeners the chance to see and hear him on the boob tube.
Yes, we are a comic duo that can put up a decent entertainment. Working with Max is always a delightful task, something like a stress reliever. We can do a variety show featuring other talents or just the two of us. We thank CCTN big boss Nonito “Tatay Dodong” Limchua for giving Max and myself as well as our talents the opportunity to entertain the public via our upcoming show Daloydoy and Friends. We assure all of you of a truly entertaining treat on television beginning next month.
Who is this lovely Manila-based personality who recently was a guest in a local awarding ceremony whose lack of public relations became very evident during the event? The guests were expecting her to sing or dance but she didn’t perform any number that could have delighted them. She simply stood onstage and fielded a few questions, shook a few hands and left the venue. (E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text 0905-354-0000)
