TONIGHST'S “big do” is the Dinner-for-a-Cause fundraising for the Cathedral Museum of Cebu at the Grand Convention Center. Museum director Msgr. Carlito Pono is inviting the generous souls in the community to get ticket-invitations at P2,000 per person from the front desk of the Museum along P. Burgos St., beside the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. The proceeds will be used for the renovation, particularly the re-wiring of the electrical installations of the museum.

The activity will include a short program with Archbishop Jose Palma as keynote speaker.

Coming up on Saturday, July 23, is another “for-a-cause” activity, dubbed Re United Fashion Show for a Cause at the Terraces of Ayala Center. Beneficiary is the Hospicio de San Jose de Barili (Home for the Aged).
The fashion show, directed by Marlon G.Wafer, will feature the Wafer Models who will parade down theramp with the creations of Myrna Cebrecus, Harley Ruedas, Bernardo Flores, Ronald Enrico, Jed Sevilla, Albert Arriba, Edwin Alba, Yves Camigue, Harvey Cenit and Manuel Tumague. The Young Designers League of Cebu composed of Pinky Magalona, Mique Yapching, Bree Esplanade, Van dela Bajan and Nicky Roa will also show off their designs.

It was a Hat Party that Marriott Hotel hosted in celebration of the birthdays of media friends. Marriott GM Bruce Winton presided over the very special dinner prepared by executive chef Brenda Mahoney. Assisting him in host duties were sales manager Dominic Dorol and PR manager Charlene Go. Yes, everyone wore a hat—Chinggay Utzurrum, Cookie Newman and I were in Binibini hats by Janice Minor, while the others (Flor Ynclino, Joe Recio, Jaime Picornell, Mila Espina, Mayen Tan and Honey Loop) wore their favorite hats.

The newest Coffee Dream outlet in town is located at the Benedicto College building in A.S. Fortuna St. Coffee dream founder Glenn Soco invited Gov. Gwen Garcia, Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes, Ambassador Frank Benedicto and his Mom Adelina Soco to cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Ayala Center Cebu in partnership with the Cebu Sports Car Association marked Fil-Am Friendship Day with an exhibition of cars, dubbed The American Dream Car Exhibit, at the Activity Center. Musical entertainment was provided for by the Philippine Air Force Band. A DJ was also around to spin American top hits.
Over at the Marriott Hotel, there was the Fil-American Friendship Dinner and Fellowship organized by the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines. Amcham president Bill Mallory welcomed one and all to the party. Program hosts were Mila Espina and Mike Go, while Cherry Pie Callelero acted as the raffle master. Games, musical presentations, dancing and raffle prizes marked the celebration.

What a flowery afternoon it was at Casino Español when the Cebu Garden Club had its induction of officers! The “gardeners” led by president Bethilda Smith all came in flowery skirts and white tops.
