UNDENIABLY, this weekend’s most anticipated event is the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival of Festivals as most, if not all, existing festivals around the province vie for big cash prizes. This is one of the highlights of the month-long 442nd Founding Anniversary of Cebu province.

The local government units have spent so much for their respective festivals to catch the fancy of the judges. Some have changed their old festivals with new ones for various reasons.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

One of this is Argao whose new festival has yet to be launched during its fiesta in September but will already make its debut appearance in the Pasigarbo.

Street dancing at the vicinity of the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) starts at 1 p.m. tomorrow. The ritual showdown starts at 6 p.m. Don’t miss the pageantry and the gaiety.

One of Cebu’s fastest rising fashion designers, Lemuel Rosos, celebrated his fifth year in the business with a fashion show at the Teatro Casino recently. His designs were given justice by the Moonwalk Cebu models, with the special participation of Miss Philippines Earth-Water 2011 Muriel Adrienne Orais, the Miss Eco-Tourism 2011 first runner-up and the Mr. & Ms. Olive C Campus Model 2010 winner. Lemuel’s clothes both for men and women were practical and wearable. So fab!

The One Cebu Expo opened in grand fashion at the CICC last Friday with a holy mass, celebrated by no other than the Archbishop of Cebu Jose Palma. Sen. Franklin Drillon and the former Tanzanian president were among the guests of honor.

In the opening program that followed, the UC Dance Co., the Sakdap quartet, the Asian Troubadors and the mannequins of Model Association of Cebu wearing the collections of Cary Santiago and Philip Rodriguez figured prominently onstage along with the officials of the province led by Gov. Gwen Garcia and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale. The expo is still ongoing.

Many are wondering how does beauty expert Jun Esma manage to change hairstyles every so often. Jun smilingly says it’s because he has some toppers which he wears depending on his mood, the weather, the occasion and the clothes he wears.

He adds that aside from modeling the toppers which were made in Manila, he also distributes them himself. Now we know.

A surprise birthday party for UC Choir mentor Raymund Abao was thrown by his loving wife Helen Grace at the Sacred Heart Center recently. Everyone was around at the designated time, the family, the choir, close friends, Helen’s batch at the St.

Theresa’s College called Bantawan which also includes, among others, Shirley Belleza, Daisy Baad and Dyna Yañez, were all there except the celebrator himself.

Helen had to concoct stories, pulled some strings and all that just to bring her unsuspecting husband to the venue. The look of surprise and happiness on his face when he finally arrived was enough to compensate all of Helen’s efforts and ‘agony.’

The Bantawan had a repeat of their anniversary dance number presented the previous night. The hip-hop group of Raymund’s second son also presented an energetic number plus the one with the special participation of his family members. Such a happy family and occasion.

What did I tell you? Even without bagging any prize in the second edition of Pilipinas Got Talent, good-looking Cebuano acoustic singer Jem Cubil can go places on the merits of his talent and looks.

He was pitted against other good-looking guys (also products of the Kapamilya talent searches) plus lovely contract stars and Jem shone effortlessly.

Keep going, Jem, and make you fellow Cebuanos more proud of you!
