HEAD to SM City Cebu on Jan. 23 and celebrate Chinese New Year with family and friends combined with exciting events, good food, and great shopping experience.
Kids can join the Cheongsam Parade happening on Jan. 23, 1p.m. at the Event Centre.

Open to kids 11 years old and below! Get the chance to win the Best in Cheongsam Costume. Prizes awaits the winners for the Most Fashionable Kid in Cheongsam Costume, Creative Cheongsam Costume and Best Pair in Cheongsam (boy and girl). Winners will receive gift certificates from Dave’s Fun House, Pic-A-Boo and Periwinkle.
Registration starts on Jan. 16-Jan. 23, 2012 at the Mall Admin office from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Registration is free.
Get a glimpse of the Lion and Dragon Dance at 4 p.m. around the mall. Both dances are traditional dances in Chinese culture. Dance troupes from the Chinese martial art schools or Chinese guild and associations will visit the houses and shops of the Chinese community to perform the traditional custom of “cai ching” literally means “plucking the greens”, a quest by the ‘lion’ to pluck the auspicious green normally ‘vegetables’ like lettuce which in Chinese called ‘cái that sound like ‘cái’(fortune) and auspicious fruit like oranges tied to a Red Envelope containing money.
Watch the Cultural Dances of the Cebu Eastern College Dance Troupe and the Chinese Martial Arts Chian Hsi Chuan Internal Arts Society as they give you a preview of popular Chinese performances at the Northwing Atrium beginning at 4 p.m.
Celebrate the Chinese New Year dining with family and friends and enjoy special meal packages and promotions at your favorite participating restaurants: Bread Talk, Brownies Unlimited, Cabalen, Crepes and Cream, Chowking, Gerry’s Grill, Krua Thai, La Mesa Grill, Lai Garden, Majestic, Pizza Hut, Spice Fusion, Starbucks and Tempura beginning on Jan. 20-23.
Visit the Chinese Zodiac Wall from Jan. 18-29 at the upper ground floor near McDonalds and discover your Chinese zodiac astrology symbol, and see what animal you were born under and what it means.
The very famous Chinese New Year Mascot will roam around the mall on Jan. 29 from 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Meet and greet the very famous mascot and have your photos taken with your loved ones.
