Utzurrum: Justin Uy’s day of triumph

THE Board of Directors of Everjust Realty Corp, owner and developer of J Centre Mall, had chosen a most auspicious date, Nov. 11, 2011 (11/11/11), for the blessing and grand opening of their spacious and streamlined, multi-level mall at A. S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City. Even the hour was meticulously chosen 11 a.m.

A huge mid-morning crowd had gathered at the main lobby, where entertainment paraphernalia had been set up for the event.

Everjust bigwigs were all over the place, with words of warmth and welcome. There must have been more than 500 warm bodies that partook of the super-delicious brunch that was found in several buffet stations in the huge reception area.

Top brass from the City, the Province of Cebu and Mandaue were all praises and gave their congratulations to the very visible chairman Justin and Jerry Uy, for still another landmark that rises on the business horizon.

A brand-new car was up for grabs during the exciting raffle that followed, and shopping tokens for SM Hypermart were distributed to make for more excitement.

More power, Justin Uy. You have jazzed up Mandaue’s bustling skyline!

November seems to be a lucky month for blessings, for a few days later, another locator thrust open its doors to the chocolate-loving public!

Tablea Chocolate Café, opened at a prime location at J Centre Mall, right beside the escalator! Again it was at mid-morning, for good luck!

Msgr. Achilles Dakay blessed the cozy premises as owners Aya and husband, Larry Shlachter and the former’s supportive parents, Sun.Star chairman Jesus Garcia Jr., and better half, Armi, proudly looked on, “This is branch number five!”, they announced with great anticipation. Looking after the buffet spread was marketing director, Jolen Lim.

“Don’t forget your souvenirs, delicious chocolate truffles made from Tablea of course.” Special guest J Centre Mall chairman, Justin Uy, could only smile in agreement.

Iowa-based MD, Gloria “Malu” Blanco-MacMullan, dropped by our Queen City recently to touch base with her dear mom, Inday, sister Monina, brothers Dindo and Tonying and classmates in dear Alma Mater St. Theresa’s College.

A shower of lunches and dinners made her schedule extra hectic. As of press time, she has joined her three daughters and hubby Tom, in freezing St., Petersburg, Russia, for a short break. Lucky them!
