Utzurrum: A topping, a pastry chef and feeding time

APPLE One Tower, recently held its Topping Out ceremony at its enviable location at Cebu Business Park, beside Cebu City Marriott Hotel, and across Ayala Center Cebu and The Terraces.

Apple One, launched in Dec. 2010, has 48 office units, four levels of podium parking spaces and 20 units of exclusive residential suites. Before the year ended, it achieved 100 percent residential unit sales and 80 percent of office units; Indeed location says it all!

The mid-morning affair was highlighted with the symbolic turn-over of the construction’s last beam to the Apple One Properties, Inc. (API) executives led by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Manigsaca, after which guests were led to a superb reception at Ayala Terraces, where more VIPs joined them namely; API vice president for Operations Yvet Andalis, Beth Cunanan, Archt. Jesse Amarga of JC Amarga Arch. Office, Archt. Michael Torres of Archiglobal Inc., and many others.

Manigsaca was beaming, when he announced, “We are truly delighted with our contractors for meeting the targeted schedule.”

Among the prestigious locators at the new edifice are; Anchor tenant, Equicom Group of Companies, ASSEC, Vichem Coating and Chemicals, JS Medical and Diagnostic Clinic, Abacus, Standard Insurance Co Inc., Pru Life UK, etc.

The 16-storey building is scheduled for completion this year.

For all you sweet-toothed nuts out there, have you been to La Patisserie Du Daniel? If not, you’re missing half your life!

Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino (WCCHC), has a new group executive Pastry chef in the person of French-born Daniel Lajoux.

That partly explains why these mouth-watering delicacies are in French: La mini Baguette Francaise; Donut Chocolat, Gateau Concorde, Tarte aux fruit, Fraisier, Napoleon noisette, Gateau Fromage, Praline muscadine, Petit Fours Berger, Mille Feuille, Clafoutis Mango, etc.

Chef Lajoux put on quite a Pastry demo show for us at the hotel, and my, were we impressed, so were the hotel GM Alfred Portenschlager, MarComm Manager Maimai Varron and the duo of assistant pastry chefs.

Chef Lajoux prides himself in having 20 years experience working with Celebrity Cruises, where he rose from the ranks to become Corporate Culinary Chef.

He is also mighty proud of another great achievement—being honored with a “Maitre du Gout” (Master of Taste) award from the Corporate Chefs of America.

The youthful and stunning ladies and gentlemen of the Bachelors Femina Clubs of Cebu, are also a committed and responsible lot, judging from their various socio-civic activities.

Recently, the group, led by presidents Patrick Yared (Bachelors) and Jennifer Sarmiento (Feminas), embarked on a feeding program in cooperation with the New Wave Movement-Mandaue, represented by Nenette Pritchard and Neddie Basubas.

With the club’s project chairman Niko Basubas, the organization was able to feed over 200 adults and kids, some of them victims of a recent fire in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue.

We would also want to welcome and congratulate new members; Krizia Nuñez, Tashi Lilja and budding lenswoman Christine Cueto, who took these lovely photos for us.
