Keeping Fit!

IN SCHOOL, one of the favorite quotes used during Nutrition Month is “health is wealth.” Using colored paper cut-outs, teachers would post this statement on bulletin boards along the hallways in an attempt to remind students, the importance of staying fit and eating their vegetables.

Unfortunately, that statement has become so worn out that many people have forgotten its meaning. Allow this story to remind people (and not just because July is Nutrition Month), that health is indeed a person’s wealth.

If you spend too much time working, to the point that you have neglected your own physical wellness, rest assured your body will demand payback sooner or later.

One of the ways to stay fit and healthy is simply exercising. Regular physical activity improves the body’s stamina, decreases the risk of heart diseases, controls body weight and so much more. It is also said that exercise can counter depression, consequently boosting one’s overall well-being.

Exercise can be done outdoors or indoors, depending on one’s preference. Those who fall under the latter might be interested to know that there is a new indoor fitness center in town—Cosco Gym.

It is located on the second floor of Gaisano Country Mall, and boasts of good quality equipment and facilities as well as skilled trainers.

The new gym is owned and managed by Jinsung Kim, who has been in the fitness industry for the past 20 years. He is a licensed physical trainer and chiropractor. Jinsung himself is the founder of the Cosco Gym chain that has three other branches in South Korea.

“It has been my greatest dream to help people live healthily and peacefully,” the vigorous and chatty gym manager said. “I want to help people maintain good health and proper diet so that they will live longer.”

Cosco has all the basic facilities one would look for in a gym. It has cardio machines, strength training equipment, a dance studio and sauna. It also has personal trainers who are ready to facilitate each member’s fitness program.

Then if one is in the mood for a group workout, Cosco offers fitness activities like Aerodance (aerobics), Cosco Fit (hip-hop and zumba mash-up), belly dancing and yoga.

It should also be noted that Cosco’s spacious studio is open for rental—wonderful news for dancers who have been scouring the city for the perfect practice spot!

Cosco’s manager Jinsung shares that he has only three tips to keeping fit. These are: “Eat right, exercise, and focus.”

Sounds easy enough. But don’t just let it run through the head like some sort of mantra. Along with “health is wealth,” keep these rules in mind and then live by them.

Cosco Gym is open from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekdays, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
