I WAS aware that some Kapamilya stars were in town last weekend but no invitation nor details of the visit came our way. Of course, we expected that already as it had been happening for quite a while already.
In fact, this was one of the concerns that the E-Group had raised to Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN’s corporate communication’s head, as I mentioned here last time. We are still waiting for Osorio’s move regarding the matter as promised.
As I was packing up for another weekend tryst to my hometown, a call from promo diva Josie Pereyra of JSP Ads & Promotions came through, inviting me to the mall show of heartthrobs Joseph Marco and Enchong Dee at the Event Centre of SM City Cebu last Saturday afternoon.
As expected, a sizeable crowd had gathered at the area long before the stars arrived. We had to cover our ears every now and then to protect our eardrums from the high-decibel shrieks of adoring fans.
Joseph and Enchong were in town to promote Star Cinema’s latest offering, The Reunion, which will simultaneously open in movie houses nationwide on Aug. 15. Enchong described the project as “barkada movie” just like Jologs, which was shown years back, but with a totally new and different plot.
He has Cristine Reyes as love interest here. His co-stars are Kean Cipriano, Enrique Gil and Xian Lim, to name some. He describes his character as “new generation geek.”
He divulged that he has many things in common with his character in the movie. Joseph, on the other hand, leads the group that makes it difficult for the group of Enchong.
The movie is of the comedy-adventure genre and is expected to sit well with the young moviegoers.

Cebuana diva Dulce breezed into town last weekend unannounced. Actually, she attended the reunion of the former students of Bulacao Community School in Pardo, Cebu City.
The event was organized by her former classmate Sauny Bacalso Lisondra-Hope, who is currently residing at Alabama, USA.
It was a first-of-its-kind activity for the school and was attended by former students from the different batches. As agreed, Dulce prepared some songs. But due to insistent requests and the diva’s desire to please her schoolmates who, as many revealed, had not seen or heard her perform live before, Dulce turned the stint into a concert of
sorts by dishing out well-loved Cebuano classics.
When she noticed that the requests were more on sentimental songs, she volunteered some upbeat ones to brighten up the atmosphere to the delight of the crowd.
We had a brief chat over dinner at the Cebu IT Park a day before she left for Manila.
Famous designer Harley Ruedas who was with the group revealed that Dulce will have another concert, a follow-up of her very successful show during the Bantayan fiesta celebration last June, before the year ends. Hopefully, I will be able to watch it as I terribly missed the Bantayan fiesta show.

The month-long observation of the 443rd Founding Anniversary of the Province of Cebu formally opened with an elaborate flag raising ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The event was led by Gov. Gwen Garcia and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale.
Members of the Provincial Board, chief executives of the local government units, Capitol department heads, consultants, employees and guests were also in attendance.
After the flag ceremony, a watering ceremony of a newly planted tree called ‘tree of sustainability’ followed. Then the crowd went to the back of the Capitol for the opening of the agricultural fair.
Launching of various programs (airsoft, horse show, volleyball, Obra Negosyo Eskwela, Turismo Sugbo and e-Gwen) was then held at the Capitol social hall.
Other activities in the following days include the Health and Wellness Activities, Puso Making and Sinanduloy Cooking, opening of One Cebu Expo at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), Ironman Triathlon (preceded by a welcome dinner at the CICC) at Shangri-La’s Mactan, fashion show of Capitol uniforms for 2013, Festival Queen competition at the CICC, Business Summit, Obra Negosyo Eskwela Symposium, Governor’s Ball, Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival of Festivals, groundbreaking of the Women’s & Children’s Crisis Center at Sudlon (Lahug), inauguration of nitrogen plant, daycare workers symposium, sports fest, job fair and events and activities spearheaded by the Capitol departments.
This year’s theme for the celebration is Kasaulogan sa Talagsaong Kalampusan.
