AFTER their ultra successful sojourn at the Zonta International Convention in Torino, Italy, Zonta Club of Cebu 2 members are ever gung-ho about projects uplifting the status of women worldwide.

ATTENDANCE. This was taken at the Alang-Alang Barangay Center with Zontians in uniformed attendance. Also giving support were Barangay Capt. Mylene Sanchez and Councilor Wendell Suico.
More so since this year marks the 30th year (pearl anniversary), of the club, having been born in 1982! Under the subtly persuasive ways of pretty and dynamic president, Myrna Cruz Tan, the club launched some projects as their opening salvo for the event.
First was the medical mission held at the Health Center of Barangay Alang-alang (Mandaue) followed by a project last Saturday with the Gasa sa Gugma Center.
On Aug. 23, Brangay Alang-alang Women Organizing in Uplifting Status for Empowerment and Development of Skills will be facilitated by Zontian Odette Jereza, with venue at the barangay hall.
The mnedical nission was sponsored by the Philippine Medical Women’s Association (PMWA) in cooperation with the Zonta Club of Cebu 2, spearheaded by Zontian doctors Florencia Miel, Vivien Seno and Debbie Limchiu, with doctors Charisse E. Tan and Alma Malilong, and interns and nurses from CDUH and Ma. Asuncion H.B. Libre.
With the theme, “Cancer Screening for Women,” the center had an overflow of patients that underwent, pap smear, breast exam, blood pressure taking, goiter exam, etc.with the enthusiastic Zontians assisting. Truly it was a stimulatingly singular Dr. Resnol Torres experience for all of us!

It was buon giorno, or buona sera (Italian for good morning or good evening) for the visiting members of the Zonta Club of Cebu 2 at the Zonta International Convention in Torino, Italy, for five days last July.
Our eight delegates led by president Myrna Cruz Tan and past area director Elena Young, more than did justice to the club, attending business sessions, and elections. One of the highlights was their donning of their now “Signature” Sinulog costume (that wowed the Manila Zontians!)
Let me quote president Myrna’s account: “Complete with beaded and feathered headdresses, we created quite a stir among the crowd of 2,000 Zontians from all over the world…” I daresay, stir is not quite the word more of sensation! Right, girls?
Let the photos tell more of the story. Congrats Zontians, you did your club and country proud!
