THE Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), the sole government-owned and -controlled corporation to conduct and establish gaming pools and casinos, is looking for the next Miss Casino Filipino who will be representing the company for a year.
The Pagcor Casino Filipino marketing office, headed by Ching Pelayo Dacua, released the following details in a statement: The pageant is open to all Filipinas, 18 to 25 years old, single, with poise, intelligence, talent and a heart to be of service to others. The deadline of submission of all entries is on Sept. 18.
The search, like other pageants, will have swimsuit, long gown, talent competitions and a question and answer portion. But according to Mike Angelo, airport relations officer, “The thrust of the pageant is to showcase the socio-civic responsibility and projects of Pagcor.”
This will be shown through each of the contestant’s advocacy campaign, which will also be a part of the criteria of the competition proper.
Angelo also said that the participants of this nationwide pageant will be comprised of 24 candidates, two from each of the 12 branches of Pagcor all over the Philippines.
“The go-sees and screening for the participants from the Casino Filipino Cebu branch will be on Oct. 3, Wednesday, at the Casino Filipino, Waterfront Hotel,” he added.
From the screening, 10 to 12 girls would be chosen to attend the semi-finals night, which would also have a swimsuit, long gown, and talent competition. This will be on Oct. 4, same venue.
The chosen representatives from Casino Filipino Cebu will be sent to Manila for basic training, seminars and workshops together with other crown hopefuls.
The grand coronation night will be held on Nov. 16 at the Pagcor Grand Theater, Airport Casino Filipino, Parañaque City. (Yna Trisha Marie T. del Rosario, University of the Philippines, BA Mass Comm II)
