THE long weekend not only gave many people a break from their daily routines, it also afforded them with the opportunity to bond with family members and friends.
In my case, I learned to take notice once again of the beauty of the sea waters in my own hometown, which I enjoyed with some relatives. One of them was my balikbayan sister Fe Zamora-Adams from Australia who also celebrated her birthday just this week in her own place in Guiwanon, Argao.
We so loved basking under the sun that we did not notice having already spent quite some time under the sun and that the sunblock we applied had already been washed away.
Indeed, we need to have some people coming from other areas in the world before we can notice the beauty of our own places, which we tend to take for granted or, worse, ignore for having seen it almost every day of our lives.

The long weekend likewise gave me with the chance to visit the remains of an elderly relative in the northern city of Danao. There, I not only paid my last respects to a woman who treated me like her own son but also bonded with my siblings and relatives who never fail to go out of their way just to make me feel at home.
To Ma Prima Lawas Podot, may you rest in peace in the company of people with whom you had spent some time here on earth and those who had been given the chance to enjoy life thereafter with the Supreme Being and the angels somewhere out there.

After the horror movie Corazon, Skylight Films—the newest sister company of Star Cinema, which describes itself as one that produces “maindie” for mainstream-indie movies—has come up with another project that will send shivers down our spines, with Amorosa: The Revenge.
Directed by Topel Lee, Amorosa is topbilled by Enrique Gil and Angel Aquino with Martin del Rosario (fresh from his credible performance in The Healing), Empress, Ejay Falcon, Carlo Aquino and Jane Oineza who is introduced here.
Also in the cast are Franco Daza, Nico Antonio, Jairus Aquino, Mosang, Richard Quan and the special participation of child actress Xyriel Manabat. Amorosa: The Revenge will open nationwide on Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Veteran actresses are gracing television and the wide screens these days, giving significant support to younger lead actresses who can even pick up acting tips and conduct of professionalism from the senior stars at the same time.
One veteran and award-winning actress whose face is considered one of the most beautiful in the local entertainment industry is not letting a good project slip through without becoming a part of it.
The come-back actress is no other than Hilda Koronel who has been absent from the industry for almost a decade in favor of a happy married life in the US. The acting bug doesn’t let her be contented with such a life, though.
Now she’s in the cast of The Mistress along with another veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez, Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz.

Beauty expert Jun Esma continues to spread his wings. He now manages the UpGrade, QCS11 and Icewave bands that are attracting music lovers in some entertainment joints.
He then shared his beauty and business acumen first on radio for a season then shifted to television with The Jun Esma Show.
Lately, he saw the potential of his second salon across the F. Ramos Supermarket being a source of additional income, aside from providing work and enjoyment for other people. So he decided to relocate the salon to the second level and transform the ground level into a restobar that Jun calls as Musicology.
It will be a sing-along joint from opening time at 6 p.m. till 10 p.m. when local vocalists take centerstage for songs from popular musical theater till midnight. Sing-along resumes at midnight till 2 a.m.
Musicology sets itself apart from the others by being smoke free. Sept. 8 is the scheduled opening date. Excitement is starting to rise this early.

It looks like Bianca Manalo and Shaina Magdayao are starting a new trend these days, that is, changing their hair color, style and their overall look after a break-up with a loved one.
You’re on the same boat, too? Then change your look not only to shed off traces of that disastrous relationship but also to attract prospects for a new and, hopefully, a successful one this time.
