FIVE Cebu-based chapters of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Regional District C-1—namely, Cebu, Rajah Humabon, Datu Lapu-Lapu, Sugbo and Cebu Leon Kilat—held its annual induction of officers and new members, and turnover ceremony, at the Cebu Parklane International Hotel.

Outgoing district director architect Sarah Abadia of Cebu chapter turned over the district directorship to incoming Rolan Paolo Alberto of Rajah Humabon Chapter. The new UPA-RDC 1 council officers include Alberto, deputy district director Ariel Angalot, district secretary Kristine Ducao; district treasurer Dennis Bernardo; district auditor Christopher Henry Dy; and district PRO Karl Cabilao.

The list also includes the following: chapter president Francis Rodriguez (Cebu); Ned Carlos (Dumaguete); Richard Cabaluna (Rajah Humabon); Hector Balonda (Bohol); Michael Torres (Datu Lapu-Lapu); Buck Richnold Sia (Sugbo); and Edwin San Nicolas (Cebu Leon Kilat).

UAP national officers which included national president Rozanno Rosal, vice president for Area C – Avelino Pastor; national treasurer Alfred Carandang and national auditor Angelito Soriano.

Our Cebuano architects are also multi-awarded as evidenced by the “Model District Award” given to the UAP Regional District C-1, while the UAP Sugbu Chapter received the “Model Chapter Award” from the UAP national board. More power then to the shapers of our skyline!

We counted at least six glam ladies who wore red to the Shabu-Shabu lunch celebration of super-clubwoman Linda To’s umpteenth birthday recently. The venue was Choi City Chinese Cuisine at Banilad Town Centre.

Present were Linda’s legion of friends, fellow-club members (did we count correctly, five or six clubs?) and closely-knit kith and kin. Here’s a random rundown: Hermanos y Hermanas de Zamboanga, Cebu Garden Club, Cebu Bonsai and Suiseki Society, Ikebana International Chapter 145, Angel Society of Cebu, etc.

Linda was a portrait of blissful serenity as she blew out her candles on a Chocolate Decadent cake, amidst cheers, toasts, and even a mini-band of singers who greeted her with their sounds! Many happy returns, to this wonder woman for all seasons!
