More 'lovely' ideas

THE sweetest day of the year also happens to be the busiest. Brace yourself for a very hectic Thursday: traffic will be horrid, looking for parking space will be worse, dining spots (see B1) will be fully-packed—and so running the risk that you just might find yourself having nowhere to go on Valetine’s Day. Yikes!

So here are few more ideas—though of the more luxurious sort—on what to do and where to go on this highly-celebrated day of love. It is, after all, always best to have a game plan.

If looking for a good dining experience, one might want to check out the dinner spreads offered at Cebu City Marriott Hotel, where they have Love Bites, a dinner package that offers a selection of lobster, rib, salmon and homemade desserts. The dinner will be at the hotel’s Garden Café and will have two seatings: from 5:30 to 8 p.m. followed with from 8:30 to 11 p.m.

Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino will also offer three-course meal for two at the hotel’s poolside dining outlet Verandah. The dinner promo aptly called "Enchanting Escape," will also feature the presence of a violinist, and will run the entire week.

For scenic skyline views under the stars, top choices (pun intended) include Harolds Hotel’s Highlights Bar, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Blu Bar & Grill and Parklane’s Kan-anan.

Highlights Bar, which is at the city hotel’s topmost floor, will offer modern Asian cuisine and choices of cocktails as well as live acoustic entertainment. Meanwhile the 1,000 feet-high Blu Bar & Grill will serve a special set menu with wine pairing, accompanied by the music of Kerara Soul. Then Kan-anan, known for its Filipino food dishes, will offer its by-the-moonlight dinner experience on both Feb. 13 and 14.

Lastly, one can’t simply let the day go by without mouthwatering desserts. Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino’s sweet shop Madeleine celebrates the love month by serving an array of Valentine-themed cakes and pastries.

Of course, there are a lot more happening in the metro come Feb. 14. The important thing there is, whatever it is you and your partner decide on doing, just make sure to get a head start—make reservations if you must—so as not to allow traffic, bad preparations and the like to ruin the day. FSE
