SO, how did you spend the day of hearts yesterday? Some people may have planned it out for quite some time, others when the day was just around the corner and still others at the spur of the moment on the day itself.
It can’t be denied that there are also many who did not plan at all. Others even just treat the day as if it’s just another day, nothing special to celebrate.
However all of you dear readers celebrated Valentine’s Day, it’s more important that after that specific date, we are still here, alive and kicking and looking forward to another day of hearts to arrive bringing ordinary or extraordinary happenings a year after.

Looking back at the month that has just passed, one of the many activities during the Pista Senyor celebration that perhaps not many have been aware of was the first Sinulog Chorale Competition.
It was held four days after the sound bytes and dusts resulting from the celebration must have settled down. It was also held near the place where movements have to be sober, subdued, restrained and, if possible, solemn (right beside the Magellan’s Cross kiosk and a few meters away from the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño).
Five finalist groups vied for the prizes at stake. After more than an hour, the winners were declared, namely: the Sta. Maria Sunrise Village Choir of the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish of Pardo, first prize; the Cebu Male Singers of the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, second; and, the Fidelis Choir of the Our Holy Mother of Perpetual Help Parish (Redemptorist Church), third. The three parishes
are all in Cebu City.
The other finalists were the Rhythm and Music Choir of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Sta. Teresa de Avila in Talisay City and the St. John de Sahagun Choir of the Parish of St. John de Sahagun in Toledo City.
Balikbayan singer-composer Archie D, whose composition Pit Senyor 2013 was adopted as the year’s official Sinulog Festival jingle, performed with Latigo Rapper who provided the rap section.
The Soundtraxx Production Studio of Gani and Gloria Villarojo supervised the event.
Needless to say, the event was a huge success. Expect more participants and a stiffer competition next year.

Young Cebuana warbler with a powerful voice Victoria Ingram did three sets of songs during the Cebu launch of the SEA PharmaOptions Inc. held at the Laguna Garden Café last Monday.
She did an Irene Cara medley and some recent hits including an Adele medley. Victoria was one of the many hopefuls throughout the country who made it to the elite group of talents in the GMA 7 reality show Protégé.
By the way, SEA PharmaOptions Inc. is a fast growing Filipino company whose aim is to market quality products that are affordable to Filipino patients. Among these is Plasmin which can be availed of in local drugstores.
