Imperial embraces the Lunar New Year

THE country’s only five-star water park resort, Imperial Palace Waterpark
Resort & Spa, embraced the Year of the Water Snake in a grand Lunar New Year celebration on Feb. 9.
The event began with two well-practiced traditions, the “Hoi Gong” or eye dotting and the “Yee Sang Toss.” The Palace’s chairman Yong Jun Park, president Justin Uy, chief executive officer Jason Uy and general manager Edward Cho spearheaded the Hong Gong.
Tossing the Yee sang for prosperity were Consul General Zhang Weigou of the Chinese Consulate in Cebu and wife Chen Lianning, Consul Robert Lee of the Canadian Consulate in Cebu, Consul John Domingo of the US Embassy in Cebu, Cebu Business Club president Gordon Alan “Dondi” Joseph and wife Corinne, and Department of Tourism Regional Director Rowena Montecillo tossed the Yee Sang for prosperity. Adding color to the event were the traditional dragon and lion dance, and grand fireworks display.
In addition were Chinese numbers performed by host and singer Natasha Cang and the Palace’s dancers, the Amigos, and a delectable spread of world-class Chinese fare by Palace sous chef and Chinese chef Kenny Yong. (PR)
