A sumptuous welcome

THE province of Cebu showed its trademark trait of hospitality, when a European diplomat was in town for a visit recently.
A notable supporter of children, health and women’s rights, First Lady of the Republic of Estonia Evelin Ilves was present in Cebu Thursday. She is married to Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the current President of Estonia.
According to Wikipedia, “Estonia is a state in the Baltic region of Northern Europe.
It is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Finland, to the west by the Baltic Sea, to the south by Latvia, and to the east by Lake Peipus and Russia.
Across the Baltic Sea lies Sweden in the west and Finland in the north. The territory of Estonia covers 17,462 sq mi, and is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate.”
There is no way of knowing if she and her party easily adapted to the weather here, but the province made sure of a warm welcome, hosting a dinner party for the diplomat at the Cebu Provincial Capitol social hall on Feb. 28. The event was attended by Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale, Acting Vice Gov. Julian Daan, provincial board members, guests from the business sector and friends from the local media.
