Cathay Pacific Cebu welcomes Sally Wong as new manager, bids farewell to Grace Ho-A A +A
Wednesday, August 21, 2013
JUST a year after she took over the reins at Cathay Pacific Airways’ Cebu office, manager Cebu Grace Ho had to say her fond farewells to the people and the places she had come to know.
Grace has been asked to oversee two other Asian cities this time, as manager east
Indonesia, based in Surabaya.
Country manager Philippines Martin Xu did the honors of raising his glass to toast Grace’s year in Cebu, acknowledging her leadership and contributions in leaving the port a better place, in the short time she spent here.
Grace counts, among her experiences, sending off the statue of St. Pedro Calungsod to Rome on a flight from Cebu, and swimming with the whale sharks in Oslob as some of the fondest memories she has. As Cebu was her first overseas assignment as port manager, she says the place will always hold a dear place in her heart, so she will treasure very much the photobook and video that the Cathay Cebu staff presented to her.
Meanwhile, Martin also welcomed new manager Cebu, Sally Wong. Together with the Cebu staff, Sally was presented with a ukulele, proudly made in Cebu. It turns out this was the ideal present as Sally had just started taking ukulele lessons a few months back.
Sally, who was previously assistant marketing manager Hong Kong, is excited with her new post and looks forward to working with the Cebu team, both at the town office as well as at the airport.
Present to welcome Sally were Manny Osmeña and general manager of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu Hans Hauri who, between them, generously sponsored the food and wine for the cocktail event.
Other guests included the airline’s supportive travel agents, cargo forwarders, media friends, frequent flyers, and other partners in the industry. They were entertained by jazz band, Kerara Soul. But the surprise number of the night came from Grace herself, who sang an excerpt from Broadway’s Wicked. Surely, we will have some surprises from Sally, too, as she starts her stint in Cebu.
