Fetalvero: For the sake of many-A A +A
Two empty bottles

THERE were times when one man had to be sacrificed for the sake of several others and sometimes a hundred men had to be surrendered for the sake of one man.
As told and retold, patriotism, courage and bravery came upon to bring honor to the country. Aside from our quest for independence from the clutches of foreign domination, it was the intention of our forefathers to bring honor and pride to every Filipino.
When a taxi driver returns a wallet or a valuable electronic gadget left by a passenger, that driver brings honor to his family. When a student offers a seat to an elderly, he makes his parents proud and the young lad brings honor to his school. When a police officer declares thousands of cash or kilos of illegal drugs as a result of an operation, that policeman brings honor to the Philippine National Police.
Graft and corruption has become endemic. How about wiping off the shit from the shoe?
Honor is trampled like dog shit without any care even if it leaves a trail. What is appalling is that those people expected to uphold the law end up violating them. How many policemen were found to have been linked to criminal activities? Have we not impeached a chief justice of the Court? Our members of the legislative body figured in an alleged pork barrel scam.
Millions of Filipinos wallow in poverty and are made sacrificial lambs while some politicians enrich themselves. This is not only considered a dishonor but a case of treachery to ones’ constituency. Yes, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty. However, there is that adage that says that where there is smoke there is fire.
The fact that the Napoles siblings whose names were linked to the pork barrel scandal are now subjects of a nationwide manhunt establishes a probable cause for suspicion.
Businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles repeatedly declared her innocence in the media prior to her disappearance.
Whoever aided the Napoles siblings from escaping the charges hurled against them should be charged with obstruction of justice. (The Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 issued a warrant for the arrest of Janet over the serious illegal detention case filed against her by the whistleblower in the alleged P10-billion pork barrel scam she is accused of.)
