Sunday, September 1, 2013
THE association of Argawanons residing in Metro Cebu, Ang Katilingbang Argawanon (AKAMC), will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Sept. 22, a week before the actual feast of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of Argao town. For this festivity, AKAMC will have a fiesta dinner and fellowship to be held at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall.
The event will be highlighted by the awarding and recognition of deserving Argawanons who brought pride to their hometown. The awardees are Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, Rep. Wilfredo Caminero (Cebu, second district), Rep. Dulce Ann Kintanar Hofer (Zamboanga Sibugay), and Argao Mayor Edsel Galeos and Vice Mayor Stanley Caminero.
Special recognition will also be given to Dr. Romulo Davide who received the Ramon Magsaysay Award of Excellence last year in the field of agriculture.
To honor the town’s patron saint, AKAMC has arranged for a nine-day novena at the St. Ignatius of Loyola chapel on Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City. The novena will run from Sept. 13-21, every 5:30 p.m., and will be followed by a holy mass.
On Sept. 22, a concelebrated mass will also be offered to kick off the affair. The Argwanon Chorale Group has been invited to provide the entertainment number.
All Metro Cebu Argawanons are invited to attend the silver anniversary celebration.
