Fetalvero: Catching the pig by its tail-A A +A
Two empty bottles
Wednesday, September 4, 2013
“THE more, the merrier” is an adage that must have enticed relatives of incumbent legislators to run for the Upper (Congress) and Lower House of the Senate (the House of Representatives).
If the pork barrel scam is indeed a matter worth investigating, I understand now why the issue of “political dynasty” has been very difficult to quell.
We have had different forms of graft and corruption but the alleged diversion of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) is the mother of all scams. I can only deduce from this alleged fraudulent operation why some politicians do not seem to mind spending millions in their campaign spree.
The perplexed taxpayers now have a concept why the country is unable to build more school buildings, cannot equip government hospitals, cannot fund dike-building to prevent flooding ands why the country cannot build more housing projects for the homeless.
Adding insult to injury is the report that Janet Lim Napoles’ jail room is equipped with amenities not accorded to an ordinary prisoner. She is no ordinary prisoner for her alleged conspiracy to commit plunder is extra ordinary—sending millions of Filipinos to wallow in poverty while her alleged cohorts master the art of covering their tracks.
An angry Filipino said: “The air conditioning unit in her jail room should be installed in reverse so that Napoles will get the hot air, while the jail guards who earn a meager income should get to enjoy the coolness of the appliance.”
Then another Filipino asked: “Why should she be given an electric rice cooker? She should have a kalan and be compelled to cook with firewood so she can puff the rest of her life in jail.”
Since ingenuity ignited the scam I believe ingenuity will solve the puzzle. Investigators just need to connect the dots so that we can start filling up the two empty bottles of our infants of poor families.
Napoles, a middle class woman who became a nascent billionaire, sent out signals to people around her that something irregular was brewing. She could not turn off the heat as the kettle in her kitchen whistled even if she kept ranting that she worked hard to earn her millions.
