CEBU Centre for Dance (CCD) has invited Rhea Dumdum-Bautista, former principal of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Dance School of Ballet Philippines, to conduct a three-day workshop on classical ballet to its students last Sept. 6-8.
It included a lecture demo on the history of classical dance and a film-showing on different styles of dance. The workshop kicked off CCD’s series of activities lined up for the year in preparation for the annual grand recital on Dec. 7 entitled, Into the Woods, a ballet adaptation of the famous Broadway show of the same title. The students were eager and excited to have a guest teacher share her extensive knowledge on the art form.
Bautista is a ballet teacher certified in both the Philippines’ National Ballet Syllabus and the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet. She teaches a wide range of levels, from pre-ballet, to children’s ballet, to professional classes, and currently does so at the CCP Dance School and the Talents School for Academics and Arts.
Aside from teaching, Bautista is part of the consulting group for the DepEd’s curriculum planning for the Senior High School Arts Track (Dance), and maintains a public relations consultancy. CCD studio is located at Tango Plaza Bldg., Queens Road (near Redemptorist Church). (PR)
