SILKAIR chief executive Leslie Thng was the man-of-the-hour during a dinner affair at the Radisson Blu organized by Rama Chandran Menon, manager Philippines of SilkAir, It was a brief first-time visit to our Queen City for Thng who is based in Singapore. On hand to welcome him were the movers of Cebu's travel industry: Marget Villarica of Destination Specialists, Alan Carvajal of Travelways, Sheila Colmenares and Kitty Tan of Leisure Travel, Jeanne Teh of Globalink, Nelson and Baby Dy of Grand Hope Travel, Paquito and Zenaida Chua of Worldwide Travel, and many others.
Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino welcomes a new hotel manager in the person of Benhur Caballes who comes well prepared for the job. He was introduced to Cebu's fourth estate during a special lunch at the newly rennovated Cafe Uno. The personable Benhur honed his hotel management skills at the Managerial Core Competencies Program at Les Roches Ji Jang International Hotel Management College in China. He was resident manager of the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel prior to his transfer here.
The sixth Golden Cowrie restaurant has opened its doors, this time in A.S Fortuna St. near the corner of Hernan Cortes St. in Banilad Mandaue. Guests of honor on opening day were Golden Cowrie founder Tina Ebrada who created the original native resto in Lahug, and top Mandaue Councilor Lollipop Ouano Dizon. Perfect hosts were the Kokseng family who are behind the venture: managing team Kenneth and Kristine fully supported by mom Mildred, uncle Earl and aunt Jojo. Taking charge of the inaugural festivities were the super efficient duo of Jaja Rama and Vanessa Deen of Big Seed.
Tina E's treasured family recipes are still very much in the menu plus new innovative additions from the young couple. Also something new is the "Take-Out Counter" for ngohiong, liempo and lechon manok, the very first take-out stand in the Golden Cowrie brand.
Want to dine at The Chef's Table? Yes, chef Marco Amarone and Korean chef Lee Seung Joon of Radisson Blu Hotel does theatrical cooking right infront of you at the Japanese station in Feria or if you so desire, they can also cook for you at the Radisson kitchen. To dine at The Chef's Table, there should be a minimum of six guests and a maximum of 16. Menu can be customized. Check it out and have a unique dining experience with two if the top chefs in town.
And speaking of food and cooking, Choi City, the Chinese seafood resto at the Banilad Town Center, proudly offers to bring the restaurant's Imperial kitchen and foreign chefs to anyone who would like to avail of its catering services. Choi City has all-inclusive packages ranging from kiddie parties to intimate gatherings to big corporate or family events.
Over in Cagayan de Oro City, the newest hotel in town, the Seda Centrio Hotel, tendered a glittering cocktail-dinner affair dubbed "Seda in the City" for its corporate clients, media and the city's prominent personalities. The hotel which opened less than a year ago, is a joint venture between the Ayalaland Hotels & Resorts Corporation (AHRC) and the Floirendo family of the Anflo Group. Located at the heart of the city on Corrales Ave. adjacent to the Centrio Mall, Seda Centrio is the city's most modern hotel offering world-class facilities.
Making a special trip from Manila to grace the occasion were AHRC chief operating officer Michael Alexis Legaspi, Seda's Group general manager (GM) Andrea Mastellone and director for sales and marketing Melissa Carlos. By the way, Seda is the first hotel brand of Ayalaland Hotels and Resorts Corp. counting three so far in its fold—Seda Bonifacio Global City in Taguig; Seda Abreeza, Davao and Seda Centrio in Cagayan de Oro.
