MOVE over scooters, because the king of the road has reached Cebu. Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle brand in the world that is still in production.
“We’re the only classic motorcycle in the Philippines,” Jimmy Barinaga, president and chief executive officer of Hardcore Brothers Custom Motorcycles, Inc., said. The Hardcore Brothers are the exclusive distributor of the brand in the Philippines.
Royal Enfield is the first British motorcycle brand in the country that is widely dominated by Japanese bikes. Barinaga cited that this adds to their challenge. The brand arrived in the country last January 2012 in Manila. Cebu is the third showroom and they are eyeing on more areas in the future.
Royal Enfield bikes are built to last long. The motorcycles are made with 95 percent metal parts. With lesser electronic parts, the easier it is to maintain the bike.
Every bike is also bump-proof. Barinaga cited that with Royal Enfield bikes, most owners will only need a tune-up every once in a while. They’re living up to their line: Made like a gun, goes like a bullet.
The Brit icon also prides in having a retro and classic look that has never been changed since the 1950s. It’s like owning a piece of history.
They have on display their four bike models, Bullet Classic, Bullet Classic Military, Bullet Classic Chrome, and Bullet Electra Deluxe. These bikes are powered with air-cooled 500cc engines. Barinaga added that bikers and Enfield fanatics should keep an eye on their upcoming model, the Café Racer. The bike will be launched worldwide in October.
The Royal Enfield showroom is located at Anything Timber, Inc. in Maria Luisa Road, Banilad, Cebu City. (ADO)
