SIBLINGS Kathleen and Paula Cañete consider Milk+Tea Station as their “happy place.”
More than just a business endeavor, the station is like an extension of their own home, with cozy furnishings, cutesy trinkets, mood lighting—the works. It’s all about “yummy milk tea and all things happy,” described Paula, an interior designer and the one responsible for the place’s look.
True enough, this little “happy place” has already attracted a lot of customers—mostly students from the nearby university—even though it is still in its soft run. Tucked inside The New Ramos Center, Milk+Tea Station has proven itself a preferred destination for studying, hanging out with friends or for simply satisfying one’s milk tea cravings.
Milk+Tea opened July 31 this year and it is a franchise of a nationwide chain. Other branches are located in Metro Manila and Bacolod, and this one is the first in Cebu.
“We brew real tea leaves which we use for our drinks and we are very sincere in what we offer,” said Paula. Milk+Tea’s drink selection are basically categorized under freshly brewed tea, milk tea, milk tea smoothies, fruit tea and Yakult-based tea.
Kathleen and Paula said that the current bestsellers for the milk teas are the matcha with rock salt and cheese, the toffee jelly with panna cotta, and the winter melon. As for the fruit tea, it’s the honey aloe lemon.
“This is a passion and dream realized for the both of us,” said Kathleen. “It was a shared dream to delve into a business together and we saw milk tea as a good fit for us, and second, this is our way of honoring and thanking our mom, who passed away recently, and our dad.”
That said, the two ladies are likewise hands on with the shop’s operations. Paula can be spotted in Milk+Tea most of the time, welcoming customers, helping in the beverage preparations, and taking photos of the customers to upload in the shop’s social media accounts. “We get to make new friends each day and it’s an added plus that they love our drinks as much as we love them, too,” she said.
At present, Milk+Tea is only serving beverages but the two reveal that food offerings are definitely in the pipelines. “We’re also brewing something special for our grand opening, which will be in the coming weeks,” Paula said.
“We are very proud of the quality and genuine taste of our drinks, coupled with the warm and happy vibe of the shop,” cited Kathleen. “We aim to create the ultimate milk tea experience on a daily basis, and we want to get all our ‘Milk+Tea-zens’ milk tea-fied all day, every day.”
Milk+Tea Station is on the ground floor of The New Ramos Center along F. Ramos St., Cebu City. It is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.
