The Healthy Smoothie-A A +A
Friday, September 27, 2013
NO sugar, no preservatives, no artificial coloring. Au naturel.
Instead of boozing the weekend away, perk up the healthy in you with Mooshi green smoothies up for grabs at the Banilad Town Centre or BTC’s weekend food bazaar in Banilad, Cebu City.
There’s a hype going on in the market for all things organic. Green is the new black. And while health buffs are at it, couple Leonardo and Catherine Angeles Jr. thought of jumping on the bandwagon by offering greens with a twist.
Leonardo is a triathlete and sports are demanding. The body needs liquid for rehydration after every intense work out. Catherine has a knack for do-it-yourself recipes. Why not go for green energy drinks? Of course, they did.
The experiment was consulted with a nutritionist to help determine a tang that will hit a “healthy” following. A mooshi (from where the Angeles’ initiative was taken from) is a plant-based drink packed with leafy green vegetables and fresh fruits.
A customer picks the ingredients to be squeezed from an array of locally farmed veggies and imported fruits at the Mooshi kiosk. A little blending here, some mixing there and you’re about to enjoy healthy drink—bottled or cupped (whichever you prefer) nutritional powerhouse with a cutesy biodegradable straw too. Shelf life is one to two days but it’s better to enjoy it after it’s served.
“We want to influence people to live healthy. It’s not about what you like to eat and drink. It’s about what you eat and drink,” Leonardo said.
