The mobile photo genie-A A +A
Sunday, October 6, 2013
GONE are the days when living subjects during special occasions stand like statues in front of vintage lenses, with frozen smiles stretched up to their ears, until the photographer snaps his fingers for the next pose.
Welcome to the Instagram era, where things instant or mobile make life easier and wackier in just a few “manips” (OK, manipulations) and clicks away.
But for the traditional audience, what else does it better than a photo booth—a rented photo kiosk, which brings out the child in every Narcissus.
Couple Ryan and Jane Loresto thought about it too. Jane has a background in events organizing and Ryan is has photography as hobby.
It was in December of last year, that time of the year when holiday memories should be documented in photographs. After all, photographs are keepsakes of trips down memory lane. What a perfect timing to set up Memento Photobooth, a resident-based mobile photo booth in Mabolo, Cebu City, to cater to the local “selfie” market. Why, because Cebuanos are photo lovers and that fondness for photo flashes and scripted candid shots must not go unnoticed.
Coined from the Latin term for “remember,” Memento is a real time generator of quality printed memories and everyone's photo genie, too!
“The sub-description ‘your photo genie’ was inspired by our clients’ compliments. Maka-gwapa ug maka-gwapu daw among kuha,” the Lorestos said, half-jokingly.
About 60 percent of Memento’s clientele is corporate such as functions for Crimson Hotels and Resorts, Quest Hotel and Waterfront Hotels and Casinos. The circle also includes concerts, birthdays, weddings, beauty pageants—and the camera clicks on.
There are three packages to choose from, which run from two to four hours inclusive of professional DSLR camera usage, unlimited prints, props and accessories, board frames, themed backdrops, customized layout and DVD or CD copies of photo files to be uploaded
as well in Memento’s Facebook page.
So, yeah, while the celebration has just started, partyphiles can ransack the box full of colorful and quirky objects, show off their Korean moves (not necessarily Gangnam Style) and have the time of their lives in 45 seconds or so.
And of course, it’s always fun to let loose with the gang. The more, the merrier! After all, the photo booth is yours for the entire party; you can do what you want.
