A second home in the city-A A +A
Tuesday, October 8, 2013
WARM smiles and gracious hospitality can build a home. Far more than fancy embellishments, a place can only earn the rep of being a “home away from home” if it has that certain comfortable ambience and, of course, good food.
This is what hotel manager Dianne Chan Lim aims to push with the recent opening of their family-owned Well Hotel and its in-house dining outlet, D’ Café.
Well Hotel was inaugurated Sept. 8 this year and it is the first venture of the Chan Lim family in the service industry. The family originally made a name for themselves—and continue to do so—in the farming biz, and thus shedding light on the hotel’s egg-shaped logo. They own several farms in Bantayan Island and in other neighboring islands.
With only daughter, Dianne, at the helm, they are on their way to making a mark in the hospitality arena, as they provide quality accommodation and dining experience to locals and tourists alike.
Named after the hotel manager herself, D’ Café is a combination of three of Dianne’s passions: traveling, coffee and food. The menu pretty much reflects that, as it is a fusion of flavors from other countries. Dianne said that the menu was jointly created by her and the hotel’s culinary consultant, Steve Shrimski of Canvas.
There’s Western, Asian and Filipino fares, and not to mention, desserts! Homemade cakes and pastries are available—best paired with its selection of gourmet coffee.
Situated on the ground floor of the hotel, D’ Café is spacious, comfy and has free wi-fi for today’s techie youngsters. It’s certainly a place to take note of when looking for a place to either dine, study or simply hangout.
On the accommodation side, Well Hotel is a standard boutique hotel that offers all the essentials to get a good night’s sleep. The eight-level hotel has 48 rooms and two family rooms that can accommodate a group of six. Plus, on the hotel’s roof deck, finishing touches are ongoing for the gym and the banquet area, which can seat up to 70 persons. Since the hotel is nestled in the heart of the city, guests can have an impressive view from there—also making it a choice location for events and functions.
Cozy, convenient and homey. In a nutshell, that’s what this newly opened hotel is all about. Well Hotel is located in Ramos St., Cebu City. D’ Café is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
