THE 2013 OPM Fair goes to Cebu this year as being the first leg of the traveling exhibition, My OPM Playlist.
Last Oct. 24, the first three influential persons and their playlists have been unveiled in Mandarin Plaza Hotel. These are playlists of musical director Ryan Cayabyab, songwriter Noel Cabangon, and actor Daniel Padilla.
The exhibit will be in the hotel lobby until Nov. 22 and will be back on show for the grand launching of OPM Fair this coming Nov. 24 at South Road Properties.
My OPM Playlist features 365 songs from 36 influential Filipinos, including famous Cebuanos, like Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, Dulce, and Me’Anne Solomon. Each person will have his own playlist of 15 original Pilipino music (OPM) songs that people can listen to during the OPM Fair.
Aside from the grand launch of the playlists, there are also other activities like INDIEmand, battle of the bands; Rockaraoke Sessions; Flip Top Cup, and; the Grand Finale Concert, with Ogie Alcasid, Noel Cabangon, Urbandub, Drop Decay, Bloomfields, Lolita Carbon, and many more.
Cabangon said that this thematic exhibition of songs aims in promoting Filipino music and inspire more people in creating their own playlist of OPM songs.
“This is a challenge for everyone to embrace their own,” he added.
The event is a project of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit, an organization of the professional Filipino singers in the country. Cayabyab noted that this is a significant project that will put OPM in the consciousness of the Filipino.
After the Cebu leg of their exhibit, they will be moving the panels to the other parts of the country. A portion of the ticket sales during the 2013 OPM Fair will go to the victims of the recent earthquake in Bohol through the Philippine Red Cross. (ADO)
