Holiday Beauty Looks: Part 1-A A +A
Thursday, December 12, 2013
I HOPE everyone is having a fun December so far with Christmas parties here and there. Many companies have decided to cancel any exorbitant Christmas celebrations in light of recent tragedies. Still, most of us continue to celebrate Christmas with smaller social gatherings, as the season reminds us all to be thankful and cherish our family and friends this year more than ever.
On a lighter note, it pays to put in a little effort at your holiday get-togethers so that you look presentable to people you meet at the party. Lots of photos are going to be taken during these holiday events, and may be immortalized forever in a framed photo at home, or viewable on social media to people you don’t know. Here are a few inspirations and how-to’s for your holiday beauty looks.
Scared to try glitter makeup because you’re afraid you might end up looking like a Christmas tree? Well, ‘tis the season for that look! High-sparkle makeup will look totally appropriate, if done in a classy and not costume-y way. Now is the best time
to try a glittery eye makeup look like this one.
Gold and silver are the least gaudy for all over the lid. Use a damp brush in a patting, not swiping, motion to help glittery makeup stick better on the lid. For colored glitter, try a swipe of sparkly blue, green or white eyeliner on the lower lash lines. Not much for the full-on glitter look? A shimmery shadow will still call attention to your eyes.
Green and Gold Eye Look
For an eye look inspired by Christmas trees and green wreaths, try forest green eyeshadow blended with gold. Don’t forget black liquid or gel liner to define the eyes and lots of black mascara or false eyelashes. To get a really Christmas-y look, apply red lipstick with gloss on top, as shown. To tone things down, go for pink or peach lipstick instead.
This classic is something to try anytime of the year, but will look especially pretty with all the red, green and gold décor that everyone has out. Applying gloss with gold shimmer on top makes the look even more festive.
Plum or Burgundy Lips
This has been popular all season for an edgy but still sophisticated look. These dark colors are most chic with a satin or matte finish. You can choose to pair these with a brown or gray smokey eye or with a very light eye look for something low maintenance.
If red or deep lips are too high maintenance with the eating and drinking at holiday parties, opt for a sparkly gloss instead that you can quickly touch up without having to worry about precision. Layer it over a lip stain for some color.
