The flowers are in full bloom-A A +A

“I HAVE always believed that beyond a creative imagination is a spontaneous child,” Novereich Agustin began.
When creative thoughts are nurtured towards the goal of the creator, a surprise, something grand happens. After many years of experiment with art, 37-year-old Novereich, interestingly the new entrant in the field of art, made it happen.
The homegrown artist’s constant pursuit of identity makes him the inventor he has become—a discreet disciple of arts emancipated from the guilt of trial and error.
Novereich earned a degree in fine arts with a major in interior design at the University of San Carlos.
From traditional painting to eccentricity, Novereich is offering a unique and elegant decorative fare aimed not towards any radical message but to free interpretation.
“The Language of Flowers” perfumes the Art Center in SM City Cebu from Dec. 13 to 25 featuring a diversity of doll faces in mixed media.
A total of 39 frames are blooming on the walls, including four sculpted hand pieces.
Primarily, the artworks are in a smaller scale of about five by six inches but their total dimensions are stretched to 15 by 16 inches as each is boxed in a one-inch depth for the protrusion of faces and accessories.
The faces were made of air-dried clay: formed, painted, lacquered and dried. Acrylic paint and other media took care of the background and overall enhancement while matte lacquer was applied to repeat the process until the desired color intensity was fully achieved. A thin, clear gloss varnish was then added to conceal and protect the final outputs.
Carrying his signature theme, what else but flowers, the exhibit is Novereich’s first solo staging and probably the first of its kind in the country. Everything, from the conception of the original idea down to execution, took about a year in the making.
The influences of his mother and art heroes—the enchanted Marina Bychkova, the philosophical Art Nouveau and Czech genius Alfonse Mucha—made him do this type of art.
Novereich’s formula is simply fashion plus painting. He compared each fine piece to a vase—delicate; and just like everything else in this world—unique. “I myself can’t even duplicate the individual design of my displays,” he said.
The collaboration of intricacy and intimacy show that Novereich is a new discovery for art lovers. Each of his work can stand scrutiny, makes the viewing a personal experience to the curious and impressed as well.
“I fell in love with flowers. And then I go, ‘why not give them a voice,’ in my own meticulous way. This is my identity, my legacy,” Novereich claimed.
Novereich’s future explorations may touch on nationalities, goddesses or customized faces and of course, will still revolve around the charm of flowers.
