THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) distributed 1,200 food packs to the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda in northern Cebu.
The management decided to forego its Christmas party this year and instead used the budget for the celebration to help the survivors.
Employees also donated a portion of their 13th month bonus for the relief operation that totaled P74,000.
The distribution of relief goods was held last Nov. 17 that benefited the different barangays in the towns of Tabogon, San Remegio, Medellin and Daanbantayan.
One of the recipients, Teodoro Dejito, 57, a farmer in Panugnawan, Medellin, thanked MCWD for the relief items.
He said his crops were badly affected and the roof of his house was damaged by Yolanda.
Helen Curaraton, another survivor, also said she was grateful for the relief items, saying she lost her livelihood after the typhoon.
Curaraton, 50, is a freelance beautician and a cook.
“Human sa bagyo, wala na man intawn magpa-gwapa o mag-party. Mao na wala na gyud ko’y kita,” she lamented.
Curaraton also lost her house to Yolanda.
