CONTINUING where we left off last week, here are more ideas for all the holiday invitations landing on your office desk, Facebook events, or in your phone inbox. Enjoy!
The blue eyeliner here is wearable because the wing isn’t too far out, and the dark blue is less stark than an aqua shade. Pair this with silver on the lid to channel a cool December winter, even if it’s unusually warm even for us this time of the year. Try this look when wearing something black, gray or silver in your outfit.
This is the secret weapon for that candlelit glow. It will call attention to your features whether you’re near those twinkling Christmas lights or not.
Use a smaller brush to sweep it on brow bones, on top of your cheekbones after blush, down your nose and on your chin. Skip highlighting your T-zone if you have oily skin. Choose a highlighter with ultra-fine gold or silver shimmer, or one in a pearly pink. These can easily double for eyeshadow.
Actual glitter on the body looks a little bit too costume-y and may be best reserved for professional skaters or ballroom dancers. When wearing a dress that shows off your legs or shoulders, make sure skin is well moisturized. Dry patches are pretty unsightly. Use lotion with a little glimmer on your legs, decolletage and shoulders for a subtly sexy look.
Your hands are going to be on full display while eating at the party dinner table or while you’re holding a glass of bubbly. Keep fingernails neat, either bare or with polish. Red and gold are always nice, but pine green is an unexpected color. You can also go all out with nail art. After all, when else in the year would it be timely to sport tiny snowmen on your fingers?
For those cocktail parties where you have to be a little bit more dressed up, a soft updo is the way to go. Nobody does super-stiff coifs anymore so go easy with the gel and hairspray. Use a curling iron or large Velcro rollers to set your hair then twist it up and pin securely. You can also tease the crown of your hair to add more volume.
