PIT SENYOR! Happy fiesta in honor of the Holy Child, Señor Sto. Niño of Cebu!
Cebu is practically “vibrating” to the beat of drums and other instruments used to accompany the dance offered to the revered Child God and the flurry of events, parties and other activities that are organized as sidelights and highlights of the festivities.
The new Miss Cebu was chosen and crowned last Wednesday, not yet known as of this writing though. New Cebuano compositions in four genres will be showcased and introduced to Cebuano song enthusiasts tonight.
Stars from the giant networks of the country and other companies whose products make stars out of ordinary mortals will descend from their respective firmaments to share their luster and glitter to the already luster-filled and glittery Cebu environment.
ABS-CBN will bring hunks John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual and Richard Yap and pretty actresses Maja Salvador and Jodi Sta. Maria for the Kapamilya Karavan tomorrow at the Ayala Center Cebu Terraces outdoor stage at 4 p.m.
GMA 7 will have the cast of their new projects such as Kristoffer Martin and Kim Rodriguez of Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw; Pauleen Luna, TJ Trinidad, Rafael Rossell and Camille Prats of The Borrowed Wife; Jennylyn Mercado, Yasmien Kurdi, Mark Herras and Mark Anthony Fernandez of Rhodora X; and Marian Rivera and Alden Richards of Carmela for its activity and to board floats at the grand parade.
As of this writing, however, I still have to receive word from the Kapatid Network on their line-up of celebrities and their activities during the festivities.
Psalmstre Enterprises will again bring Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet and Miss Earth Air 2012 Stephany Stefanoitz to board its float on Sunday.
Considering the volume of traffic and the throng of humanity all around Cebu City and its environs, for sure it’s going to be such a difficulty, to say the least, in commuting from one venue to another to honor invitations and watch these celebrities
perform live or just wave to their fans while flashing their sweet smiles.
Cebuana actress (yes, she has long reached that level already and a versatile one at that) Kim Chiu and heartthrob-onscreen love team Xian Lim breezed into town last weekend to promote their latest film Bride for Rent (currently shown in movie houses nationwide), the follow-up to their box-office winner Kung Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo.
Kim was candid in saying that she felt the Manila media had already become “rude” in the way they insisted on trying to get the real score between her and Xian behind the cameras, which caused her to snap back with her answer. She apologized though for her reaction (i.e. “I don’t owe you an explanation,” as quoted on Kris TV).
When asked how much of the real Kim is in the role she portrayed in Bride for Rent, she said about 80 percent. She smilingly added that she cannot say 100 percent because she is “not for rent.”
Xian, on the other hand, said only 50 percent of the person off-camera is into this particular role. Both of them said they enjoyed shooting the movie and assures viewers that they’ll enjoy it and go out of the movie house feeling good and wearing smiles on their faces.
Promo diva Josie Pereyra sincerely thanked the Cebu media for the latter’s patience in waiting for the stars whose flight from Manila had been moved several times and had to stop at some places before finally appearing at the press conference venue, the Casa Amparito.
We told Josie that Casa Amparito’s delicious food which we munched every now and then even after lunch proper played a big part in driving our boredom away. Ms. Josie however assured us that she’ll let the Star Cinema management know of our sentiments about the stars’ handlers limiting our questions to only five in exchange of the three hours we had waited.
It’s sad to note that Miss International Bea Rose Santiago’s triumph in the pageant, instead of uniting and fostering closer relationship among family members as most victories do, has widened the divide between her and her estranged father.
This was reportedly due to her statement in a TV interview shortly after she brought home the fifth crown for the country from the pageant where she said that her father had “abandoned” her, or words to that effect.
