Espina: A family mission-A A +A
Monday, January 20, 2014
IT IS a Filipino custom that when one member of the family has a worthy project, all its members, relatives and close friends help.
This has been true with Dr. Yong Larrazabal, his family and his Larrazabal Eye Group (LEG), who worked hard for its Christmas mission held on Dec. 14-15, 2013 in three barangays in Leyte, namely, Biliboy, Naugan and Tambulilid. Some 2,000 kids’ packs, 500 T-shirts and 150 various balls made the recipients so blessed.
Dr. Yong credits his wife, Donna and children; parents Jun and Zeny Larrazabal; siblings Mia, Betty and Philip; prime movers Debbie Lim of Canada, Olaf and Gleceria Bornack, Siebert family, Dr. Pek Eng Lim, Junjun So, Francesco and Rowena Tatiri, Harold Ong, Shirley Kuan; friends from abroad Ken and Wilma Tenebro, Dr. Guiden Manalo, Dr. Steve Alsay; from Leyte, Baba Herrera; Lolo Sabin and Lolo Rosie; Arnold and Luisa Chuachoy, Joel and Carla del Prado; and the entire LEG, among so many donors who put together the transportation, delivery, and distribution of all the gift packs.
This valuable endeavor gives meaning to the medical profession beyond its commitment to achieve excellence in the various areas of concerns. Cheers to the Larrazabal Eye Family!
Note: My Jan. 14 article mentioned that Punla-Norkis and We Care scholarships have been going on for 20 years. They were founded in 1987; thus, both are in existence for 27 years.
