ELECTRICITY is one of the foundations of a modern and developing society, like the Philippines, and a constant problem at that. With the ever increasing prices of electricity, there are some companies who see this as an opportunity to flourish.
SKC Lighting opened their first office in the Philippines in Cebu last Jan. 17, 2014.
This will be their main office in the country and in Southeast Asia, in order to start penetrating the market.
SKC is a global company based in Korea. It has different divisions focused on a wide variety of products, like telecom, chemicals, construction, lighting and others. SKC Lighting, specifically, provides LED lights and solar power products.
Starting a branch and office in the Philippines is a big move for the company. It believes that there is more growth and development in the Philippines compared to other neighboring countries. The strategic location of the country will also prove to be beneficial as headquarters in exporting lighting products to other countries.
Dan Nam, the director of SKC Lighting in the Philippines, said that SKC is different from the other LED companies because of their focus on environment-friendly products.
The company is targeting government and industrial sectors for their LED products. It is focused on wholesaling products for now, but will be open to retail soon.
Nam added that their LED and solar power would provide more savings because of their high-quality products. Plus, using both LED and solar power is quite apt for a tropical country, like the Philippines.
SKC Lighting is located at Square One, Subangdaku, Mandaue City. (ADO)
