YEAR of the Wooden Horse! Colors of the year vary from green to brown, violet and yellow. Which one? I have always loved the horse, my favorite. It’s regal, clean, with majestic form (kings and knights ride them). I thrill to the sound of its galloping feet! Symmetrical!
So, I hope, this year will see the fast stride of our economy! We hope to trample corruption and clean-up the political mess. Just as Sir Galahad pitied the leper-stricken beggar as the Knight sought for the Holy Grail, we pray our leaders seek moral uprightness in the name of the Lord. And do it soon, like the “speedy horse!”
The food industry is predicted to continue getting profitable harvest, though competition is stiff. Because travel and tourism will recover steadily, hotels and restaurants will have good business.
The Marco Polo Plaza does not rely on the Yuletide market alone. Its long-term food fests, incentivized events and constant upgrading of facilities and services, plus superb marketing and PR networking have been its “branding” edge! Cebu Parklane International Hotel, Cebu City Marriott, Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu; resort pacesetters like Shangri-La, BE Resort Hotel, Maribago Blue Waters, Imperial and Crimson will benefit from international and local visitors who will come for seasonal festivities and conventions. The vast Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel will host more educational, health-related, wedding, convention events as well as exhibits. Cebu International Convention Center will bounce back to the tourism-related events. Hotels in the heart of the city, like Hotel Elizabeth, Quest Hotel, Harolds Hotel, Diamonds, Island Souvenirs, Hotel Fortuna, Sugbutel, Vacation Hotel, Casa Rosario, Mark, Castle Peak Hotel, among so many others, will continue to cater to their regular target market. But the name of the game is creativity and good performance!
SP Comm Kit. The “third person, singular, present tense” has been our problem in subject-verb agreement. Example: She loves music (add “s” to the verb). However, we say, “She does not love music (with “does,” the “s” is dropped from the main verb).
Does she love music? Yes, she does. (Emphatic: Yes, she does love music) No, she doesn’t. (Or, No, she doesn’t love music)
