IT'S nice to know that some show biz personalities, who, perhaps not of their own making, have projected an image of being modern, carefree and liberated individuals, but in reality still believe in the sacredness of the sacrament of marriage.
Kapuso program host Drew Arellano and Kapamilya host-actress Iya Villania tied the knot just recently. Then Karylle and Yael Yuson will have their turn down the aisle in March.
Karylle had an emotion-filled narration of her journey through show biz and the next phase in her life last weekend on It’s Showtime. It was there that I was able to appreciate her beauty, which I used to regard as “pale” in comparison to her mom Zsa Zsa Padilla.
So who will walk down the aisle next? I wanted to pose this question personally to Toni Gonzaga when she breezed into town for the promo of Starting Over Again with Piolo Pascual but I did not get the chance to do so because of time constraints.
Toni has been in a relationship for quite some time now, but in her previous interviews with Manila-based media she said that she has to prioritize on her career at the moment as she still gets many opportunities to prove her worth.
It seems like she and her boyfriend are not in a hurry.
It’s nice to see how good-looking show biz personalities learn to accept their own “defects,” and just shrug off their shoulders and even go to the extent of laughing them off.
During last weekend’s interview with Piolo and Toni, the two were asked what the movie-going public can expect from them in Starting Over Again. Piolo said in jest, without batting an eyelash: “panga” (jaw) andToni immediately added, “panga sa panga” (jaw versus jaw).
They even joked about “having difficulty” in their kissing scenes as their prominent jaws would come in the way.
However, unlike the two who, in addition to being good-looking and successful career-wise and thus presumed to be financially stable, ordinary-looking and financially challenged individuals find it hard to accept physical imperfections and even blame these as among the hindrances to a successful and contented life.
But then, that’s life, folks. We cannot always get what we want. The consolation, however, is the line that says that if we don’t get what we ask from the Almighty, it’s because He has a better plan for us.
That’s comforting enough, isn’t it?
I have interviewed actor Carlo Aquino several times ever since he became Rosemarie Gaisano’s celebrity guest many times before. It was in one of these casual talks that I learned Carlo has a band from years back. I have seen him perform whenever he comes to Cebu for a guest appearance, and he sings well.
The chance to see Carlo perform again was lost. He was in the northern town of Catmon last weekend to do a show with Ronnie Liang, Mariposa and Milagring in the town’s pre-fiesta activities. But a slight fever prevented me from doing so though, a classic example of things not going our way as we wanted them to. Whoa—life!
By the way, let me congratulate Jeresa May Comaingking, a 15-year-old junior student of the Catmon Integrated School high school department, for having been chosen as Budbod Kabog Festival Queen 2014.
Congratulations to her school for also bagging the grand prizes in street dancing and ritual showdown that made it the hands down overall grand champ.
Congratulations also to the town officials headed by Mayor Dan Jusay, who helped a lot
in staging the festival as a thanksgiving of sorts to patron Saint William of Aquitania. The saint was said to have spared the town from destruction in last year’s natural calamities.
It will be a livelier weekend for the residents of Bogo and nearby areas, which have been wallowing in difficulty in the aftermath of super typhoon Yolanda’s wrath.
Tomorrow, Rose Gaisano will bring Kapamilya stars Ejay Falcon and Chienna Filomeno to delight shoppers of Gaisano Bogo in a mini-show and to pick out the lucky winners in the second draw of A Million Thanks Raffle Promo of the Gaisano stores.
Chienna is currently seen delineating the role of Amanda in Got To Believe with
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla as leads. The show is scheduled at 5 p.m. at the Bogo Sports and Cultural complex.
