Spring 2014 beauty trends: Part 2-A A +A
Friday, March 7, 2014
PICKING up where we left off last week, here are more beauty looks from the runways for spring 2014.
This lip look seems to be here to stay, since it was also popular for Fall/Winter 2013. You can use your red-orange lipstick that was so high fashion last year, and it will still look fresh for this season. But to really dive into this trend, an electric orange lip is the most of-the-moment version of this high-impact lip color.
The ‘No Makeup’ Look
It might seem a bit odd that “no makeup” is a makeup trend – huh? But this is great news for girls who really don’t like makeup or prefer a natural look: Just super fresh-looking skin, with lightly groomed eyebrows, curled lashes, and tinted lip balm. If uneven skin tone or dark circles are a concern, apply concealer only where needed and use a BB cream or foundation with sheer coverage.
You can also apply subtle highlighter (nothing too glittery or shimmery) to make skin look extra luminous, but you can skip this if your skin is oily.
Because this look really puts skin on the spotlight, it reminds us to be on top of our skin care regimen.
Moisturize well to keep skin hydrated and plump.
With the heat beginning to escalate towards summer temperatures, never forget to drink plenty of water, even if you’re not feeling particularly thirsty.
Last season, braids were done in smaller, neater designs. But big, messy braids are back this season, perfect for keeping hair out of the way and in a prettier style than the runof-the-mill ponytail.
To keep this style looking new and not too school girl, don’t make it too perfect. After tying on an elastic at the end of a braid, rough it up a bit by running your fi ngers back and forth, and pull out a few tendrils near your face.
A mirror-like fi nish is trendy this season, but those special chrome nail polishes may be hard to come by locally. Can’t fi nd chrome polish? Try a metallic mani instead, in any hue from pewter to steel blue.
Blanc tips were on several runways at Fashion Week. To avoid looking like you painted your nails with liquid eraser, choose a shiny fi nish.
You can opt for a long and pointy shape, or keep your nails shorter. Add a little sparkly nail art on the base of the nails, if you want. This nail trend will look cool with ripped jeans, or sophisticated with ladylike dresses.
