Monday, March 10, 2014
WITH the new thrusts in education, the K+12 as well as a possible change of school calendar, students need enrichment lessons, specifically in English, so as not to lose their second language proficiency in the midst of bilingual and multilingual approaches in the teaching and learning process.
Cebu offers enhancement courses in varied learning centers. MSA institute prepares high school graduates for college courses; the Sandiego group has dance lessons; Center for Pop music hones singing talents. Schools, like Colegio de la Immaculada Conception and Bright Academy, offer speech lessons.
Speechcom International caters to pre-school, grade school, high school, college, professionals and non-professionals on regular and summer programs. This year, it will be from April 23 to May 9 at the Sacred Heart Center. Fun and interactive sessions include pronunciation and speaking skills, theatre arts (songs and choreography); public speaking (emceeing; oration and declamation); doing interviews, including radio and TV hosting or announcing; various speech techniques in extemporaneous and impromptu speech, all with instructional materials suitable to various grade levels.
The Sandiegos, led by Val Sandiego, have special lessons in cultural and modern dances where children and teenagers get very practical modules in choreography.
The MSA specializes in Math proficiency and aptitude and skills test for college admission in Manila. Bright Academy combines arts, sports and communication skills.
The Sacred Heart Center offers swimming lessons with affordable rates.
