Deadline for doc film entry extended

THE Rotary International District 3860 and the Cebu International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF) announced that the “Rotary Documentary Film Challenge 2014” call for entries has been extended until March 15.

The challenge is open to all aspiring and professional filmmakers.

The filmmakers must choose a rotary club belonging to District 3860 Zone 1 as the subject of their documentary. The official list of rotary clubs can be checked at www.cidff.org.

Participating rotary clubs will submit an acceptance letter to CIDFF to accredit the chosen filmmakers. Filmmakers must then fill out the registration form online at www.cidff.org and pay an entry fee of P500.

Filmmakers are required to submit a two-minute trailer to CIDFF on or before March 23, and three DVD copies and three raw files of their promotional film in AVI format and high definition quality (within 8-15 minutes in length) on or before April 25.

The top 10 finalists and overall winner will be announced on May 5.

The awards and their corresponding prizes are as follows: first prize-humanitarian award is P25,000; second prize-leadership award is P20,000; third prize-service award is P15,000; and the top 10 finalists will receive P7,000 each.

The criteria for judging are creativity-40 percent, technical merit-30 percent and relevance to rotary-30 percent.
