IF YOU do not want to head home yet after dinner, or you find yourself battered by the summer heat and you’re looking for a cold fix, this place is for you.

Ice Giants Desserts and Snacks has opened two branches in Cebu, specifically one at The Strip, Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City and another one at City Time Square, located along Mantawi Avenue, North Reclamation Area, Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

“Our (couple) biggest dream was to own an ice cream restaurant and it took quite a while—three years in fact to conceptualize. My work experience of 16 years in managing one of the international food chains in the country helped a lot. In 2009, the very first Ice Giants was born at the “land of promise” in Davao City,” proprietor Joseph Villaceran shares a little bit of history behind the dessert brand. The two branches in Cebu are the first ones outside of Davao City where the business is originally based. Davao has three Ice Giants branches and is now looking toward a national expansion.

As the name suggests, this food place isn’t just some typical dessert spot. Although its menu is pretty varied, Ice Giants is well-known for Ice Giants concoctions: three-kilo desserts good for eight to 10 persons and perfect for sharing among family and friends. For now there are three flavors to choose from namely Halo-halo, Chocolate Titans and Mango Magnifico.

Besides the gigantic desserts, there items on the menu as well that should be perfect for individual consumption. From ice cream parfaits to sweet desserts whipped up from fine-shaved ice, Ice Giants may very well stomp on any sweet tooth’s craving leaving the latter satisfied. And being based from Davao, it would just be fitting for the establishment to come up with a dessert called the premium durian delight. It should be a treat for Cebuanos, as Davao is well-known in the entire country for its durian.

Here is a fun bit of trivia. According to a staff in one of the branches, Ice Giants does not put any more sugar in their desserts as it is already sweet as it is.

Also, the place serves up a line of snack to complement the desserts. The tasty choices, which are inspired from American comfort food, range from sandwiches, pastas and fried chicken.

Besides the menu, everything else about the place—including the very colorful interiors—exude a charm that’s nothing less than “happy.” The servers are dressed up like sailors as well; as the company tries to make the dining experience something more of like stress-free vacation.

Indeed, dessert places like these look to serve everyone. Both the young, and the young at heart. Ice Giants branches here in Cebu are open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and up to 12 midnight on weekends.
