Take a dip

Summer is just around the corner and, man, is it hot outdoors these days or what?

They say that most places in Metro Cebu are about 30 minutes away from each other. Be it restaurants to hospitals or churches to malls; even driving home after partying up all night.

No matter where you are in Cebu, it would probably just take you half an hour to get where you want to be when the traffic isn’t bad.

But when it comes to beaches, most people would have a lot of logistical planning to do before getting to one.

People ask all sorts of questions like, “How much fuel do we put in the car? Can we all fit in one vehicle or do we convoy? What time do we leave home? Is it going to rain this weekend? Who will bring the food and drinks? Naa’y tuyum?”

Some people just don’t want to get into that entire planning process, most especially, if you and your friends just spontaneously thought about wanting to chill and swim around for the day, a few minutes ago.

The solution? Locate swimming pools in the city. This article will try to enumerate the different choices that are available for the public. These aren’t ranked in any specific order, and although prices vary, they’re relatively a lot more affordable than their hotel resort counterparts. Consider this a guide to a good summer splash. Just be discerning though, as some of these places are more for the serious health buffs out to exercise, although some of these spots are more for the casual swim drink-and-dine crowd. Enjoy!

Cebu City Sports Complex.

This one here has been around for ages. Swimming lessons, amateur or professional athletes frequent this place because it’s probably the only one here in Cebu with an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Holiday Gym and Spa. This one located in Banilad, Cebu, is 25 meters long and just four feet deep the entire area; totally kid-friendly. People love to drop by this place, most especially after working hours.

Banilad Sports Club. Located along Maria Luisa Road, Paseo Saturnino in
Banilad, this spot right here has got two swimming pools for adults and for kids.

The depth for the adults’ pool ranges from five to seven feet. (Note: This place is formerly known as Sandtrap Sports Bar and Restaurant.)

D’ Family Park. The swimming pools (for both kids and adults) here in this park located at Talamban, Cebu is just one of the amenities of the 20 hectare property. Recently launched to the public after months of renovation, the area—like brand new—is now ready to serve families and visitors alike.

Best Western Lex Plus Hotel. The hotel, located along Escario St. cor. Juana Osmena Ext., Cebu City, presents its infinity-style designed pool for the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for a very affordable price.

With a depth of four feet, the entire pool can also be considered a “lap pool.”
