DAIMLER Group Services Philippines Inc. (DGSP), with its affiliate Daimler Financial Services Inc. based in Singapore, recently implemented a repair/rehabilitation project aimed at improving the state of daycare centers in Borbon, one of the northern towns in Cebu, badly hit by super typhoon Yolanda in November last year.

DGSP gave P350,000 in financial assistance to the Municipal Government of Borbon for the rehabilitation of daycare centers in Barangays Bili, Magdolinog, Bongdugua, Tabunan, Tagnucan and Kadaruhan.

During the ceremony held at the Borbon gymnasium last Feb. 25, Daimler Financial Services (DFS) officers from locations and companies all over Africa and Asia Pacific, with their general manager Lutz Grotebrune of the Singapore office, were on-hand to turn over the funds to Borbon Mayor Bernard Sepulveda. The 39 DFS executives were accompanied by the DGSP chief executive officer based in Cebu, Heiko Nitsche, and staff, who also participated in the feeding and school supplies distribution to the 216 daycare kids who were present during the ceremony.

The Provincial Government of Cebu was represented by Provincial Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale and Asst. Provincial Administrator Ramil Abing. Borbon Vice Mayor Noel T. Dotillos also graced the event.

The DFS employees were in Cebu for their annual management conference, and instead of holding their regular teambuilding activities, the group opted to use the funds for a corporate society responsibility project that served as the highlight of their one-week stay in the Philippines.
