NEW York-based clothing and accessories brand Proenza Schouler has collaborated with always on-trend MAC Cosmetics for a spring/summer makeup line.
Fans of the designer label may expect nude makeup based on the black, white, rust and cream palette from Proenza Schouler Spring 2014 on models sent down the runways with natural makeup looks. But in the Proenza Schouler style of coming up with the unpredictable, designer duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez surprise with their collection for MAC, which is housed in luxurious metallic packaging in a gradient of colors from teal to lemon to violet. Shades of the products themselves range from some nudes, fun oranges and pinks, to deep purples and black.
Skipping eyeshadow, foundation or face powder was a decision made early on by the designers for this collaboration. The four lipsticks in the range are in light pink, vivid flamingo, bright orange-red and sheer berry plum, while the two ombre blushes are in cool pink and warm peach. Nail polish colors come in pale nude, plum, bright coral and black gloss. Two lip pencils deliver long-wearing color in peony and red-orange.
“We love a girl who’s not too done,” said McCollough on vogue.com about the collection. “Maybe you have a clean face and a bright lip, or a bit of an eye, or maybe only your nails are colorful. It’s that one thing, a gesture, that gives it an attitude.”
