APPROPRIATELY garbed in dramatic haute couture backdrops was Tavolata, venue for the exclusive launching cocktails of imported, high-fashion brand, Zara.
From the black carpet covered floor, to the silver mirrored panels that reached to the high ceiling of the restaurant, to the pristine white floral arrangements and the numerous flickering candles that dotted the area, the venue was indeed right and proper for the grand event.
Store Specialists Inc. (SSI), the company responsible for bringing to the country your favorite, luxury fashion brands, had indeed many reasons to celebrate. SSI’s executive vice president, Anton Huang, recently opened not just one, but three similar stores at the newly inaugurated Ayala expansion. These were F & F, Muji, Gap and soon-to-open, Aeropostale. And that night, Zara.
That evening, an exciting attraction was the awarding of prizes to chic partyphiles wearing Zara outfits. Some of the winners were Teresin Mendezona and Gretchen Uy (style queens). Protacio Empaces and Michael Sanchez (style kings). Derek and Mary Anne Arculli as chic couple of the night and mother/daughter team Anna Hyatt and Reona Ido as style DNA awardees.
Amidst the cool music of top DJ Mars Miranda and the entrancing vocal stylings of Abby Asistio, coupled with Tavolata’s sumptuous cocktail choices, and fine wines, the fashionable set had one truly memorable evening!
“Summer Solstice” was the much-awaited fashion happening of the Ayala Center Cebu and the Fashion Council of Cebu, held at the Gallery of the Ayala Expansion Area.
The chic and easily wearable 2014 Summer Couture Collection featured such popular, leading Cebu designers as Arcy Gayatin, Philip Rodriguez, Jun Escario, OJ Hofer, Cary Santiago, Philipp Tampus, Edwin Ao, Yvonne Quisumbing, Albert Arriba and Ditas Rodriguez.
Discernible in the select crowd were Ayala stalwarts Bong Dy and Janice Parreño. The wife of the Japanese Consul in Cebu, Naomi Otake and Takeko Nagai.
“We had occasion to converse with the event organizers, A-listers Kaye L. Sala and Cybill Gayatin, who further informed us that the show’s credits go to Junjet Primor as director; Doro Barandino for stage design; and hair and make-up by Emi Ayag, Ramil Solis, Martha Opolentisima, Erika Diaz and their teams.
