ANOTHER Cebuana is vying for a national title in the capital region. Felina Joyce Lim, youngest daughter of Johnie and Flor Lim of Body and Sole fame, is Candidate No. 8 in the 2014 Mr. & Ms. Chinatown Philippines pageant.

The final selection and coronation will be on July 27, Sunday, at the Aliw Theatre.

Felina is 23 years old, a graduate from St. Louis University of Baguio, a registered nurse and a licensed massage therapist.

She’s 5’7” tall and loves traveling, dancing, singing, acting and doing yoga. Felina is not a neophyte when it comes to beauty contests (Ms. Sogod - Leyte 2013, Ms. Southern Leyte 2013 first runner-up and Ms. Chinese Cosmos Southeast Asia 2014 first runner-up) but she still needs our support in prayers and, of course, online votes to help her snatch the coveted crown.

Just visit Mr. & Ms. Chinatown 2014 vote page and cast your votes. Let’s play a role in adding one more title to the already long list of titles won by Cebuanas recently.

Were you in SM City Cebu covered parking area last Monday? A huge crowd gathered just to catch a glimpse of the hottest teen love team these days, the KathNiel love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

RJ Leduna Jr. of SM City Cebu said that as early as 6 a.m. that day, many youngsters were already queuing to buy movie tickets, which gave them the chance to get a closer view of their idols in a more comfortable manner as seats were reserved for them.

Of course, the tickets can still be used to watch the movie, She’s Dating The Gangster, which was the reason for the duo’s Cebu visit.

Promo diva Josie Pereyra invited the entertainment beat writers for an ambush interview either before or after the show. We had to cover our ears when Kathryn appeared onstage as high decibel screams and shouts of delight greeted her.

The sound became even louder when Kathryn called Daniel to join her onstage. It was a long time that we saw and heard such outpouring from adoring fans. Some in the audience had to be rushed backstage to the emergency team for one reason or another.

Is it safe to say then that the attendance was, that early, already an indication of a possible blockbuster?

As far as I can remember, that was the first time that we held a press conference inside a van where almost everyone was facing the same direction. Most, if not all, of us smiled when A.C. Martin straightforwardly asked the teen stars how it felt to have to answer questions inside a van.

The road manager explained that the press con had to be conducted that way as some of the entertainment scribes had to leave early. We had to look around to find out who was leaving earlier but nobody made a gesture to confirm what the handler had said.

Did she imagine things to justify the situation?

After Kathryn and Daniel, another pair is slated to visit Cebu at the tail end of this month. Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee will be in town on July 26 to promote their film Once A Princess, which will open in movie houses nationwide on Aug. 6.

For sure, many will troop to movie houses on that day as Aug. 6 is a holiday, it being Cebu Province’s 445th founding anniversary. Happy anniversary, Cebu Province, and happy viewing, Erich-Enchong fans!

I thought the likes of John Prats, Mark Herras, Rayver Cruz and Enrique Gil are the only male stars who can dance up a storm. It turns out another young male star is out to prove that he can give the four a run for their money.

Enchong proved to be a good dancer himself through Vice Ganda’s Sunday evening program Gandang Gabi Vice. Although I saw him before in other shows displaying this side of him as an artist, it was only that night that I got to really appreciate his terpsichorean talent .

Residents of Barangay Poblacion, Oslob, are on their toes, polishing their routines for the upcoming Sadsad Festival which is one of the cultural highlights of the feast of San Roque on Aug. 17.

The festival, one of the earliest to be organized in the province, was sidelined after it was transferred from August to December, and was placed in the backseat as municipal administration changed hands.

With this revival, many residents are excited and are throwing their support to assure the festival’s success.
