Cool place to chill

WHAT happens when four moms come together and decide to be partners for a business?

Well, many things actually. But for starters (and specifically for this story), Angel delos Santos, Lea Fabian, Joann Lucero and Malu Saludes are pretty blessed to have had launched their collective business venture in the food scene very recently.

Frozen Snack Bar, located along within Century Plaza Complex, Juana Osmena St.,Cebu City, is a cool place to hang out with friends and family—figuratively and literally speaking. Of course as the name suggests, this food place serves up their own brand of refreshing sweet picks from its exclusive and original ice cream cakes, standard halohalo desserts, to its very own version of humungous confectionary concoctions—the “whoppers.” The latter are desserts that are good for five to eight persons, and come in three flavors, Chocolate, Mango and HaloHalo.

For the record, the place isn’t just about snacks or sweets. They serve great dining options from appetizers like mozzarella sticks, to big bites like fried chicken. The pastas and pizzas are tasty as well. Plus, the best part is that, the establishment also decided to serve breakfast dishes and full-on meals available all-day long.

But what is it about this hangout that sets it apart from the pack and makes the visit a little more special? Well, one of the many things that happen when mothers decide to work together, is that they become very hands-on about their business. The ladies in charge make sure everything that a little touch of “home-loving” is sprinkled on just about every aspect of the snack place.

Cleanliness? The two-story hangout is pretty spic and span. Service? Frozen offers a wifi connection speed that’s considerably fine for streaming stuff online and the like. Parking is not a problem too. The cakes used for their recipes? All original, homemade and handmade, as intricately prepared by the four partners. “I’m just so fortunate that I have partners that are excellent bakers as well,” Angel shares.

And that’s not all, but everything else on the menu, as Angel explains, was made from scratch. “We don’t just purchase any bottled-up ingredient for all our products, we make it ourselves.”

The mothers refuse—keeping themselves from being stereotyped—to throw in ingredients everything-and-anything-instant for a particular dish just to save on time or budget.

Indeed, it is a pleasant surprise finding out, that all these mothers’ extreme attention to detail, do not push them to go overboard in terms of their food’s flavor.

Nothing’s too salty, nothing’s too sweet.

They’re not control freaks as well. They don’t go after every sweaty kid in the restaurant, wiping the sweat off their backs with little towels; well maybe it’d be different if it were their own kids running around.

Bottomline, homey and comfy, Frozen is the evidence of how these mommies translate their knack for entrepreneurial opportunities and fuse it with some good old-fashioned T-L-C.

And oh yeah, the name of the snack bar was inspired by the popular animated film—requested by Angel’s baby daughter who likes to imagine herself as Queen Elsa.

What mother can say no to that?
