AN EXPERIENCE woven around cheese happened last week. And Emborg and Friendship dairy products were at the limelight.

The two European dairy brands were showcased at “Purple Feast” last Thursday at the International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management Cebu in Synergis IT Center in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.

Emborg and Friendship are retail and foodservice brands, respectively, manufactured under Uhrenholt A/S, the mother company based in Middelfart, Denmark.

Established in 1978, Uhrenholt A/S is a global food company supplying products within the categories dairy, seafood, meat and vegetables for wholesale, foodservice and industrial customers across the world with Asia as a top dairy market. Local offices and representatives have been stationed in more than 20 countries.

The Uhrenholt A/S Philippine team includes country manager Armando Cledera and foodservice manager Aby Valentos who were also present at the event last Thursday.

Boasting of real European cheese, Emborg and Friendship is an international source of premium cheese, cream, butter, mustard and special cheeses among other dairy items with milk being offered only by Emborg.

The brands have been activated in various food channels worldwide such as quick service restaurants, casual dining establishments, hotels, bakeries, airline companies and large foodservice accounts. To name a few are Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Breadtalk and 7 Eleven.

Emborg and Friendship entered the country four years ago with a strong presence in Manila. Exclusively distributed in Cebu by Isabella Dairy and Condiments in Mandaue City, the former just made it within this year while the latter has been around for two years now.

The event last Thursday was actually the first Uhrenholt A/S road show in Cebu. The intention was to introduce, if not re-introduce the quality dairy brands, especially Emborg to the gastrosphere down south. The invitees were a blend of end-users, restaurateurs, hotel delegates, food chain agents and the academe.

Moving under the mantra “You are more than your recipe,” Uhrenholt A/S corporate chef Nikolaj Lenz executed and shared his dairy knack, the Emborg and Friendship ways via cooking demos, product presentations, new applications and trend discussions.

With recipes calculated on the products available, chef Nikolaj came up with the following experimental creations using the company’s dairy products: Silky Sweet Cream Cheese and White Chocolate Cremeux; Cream Cheese “Tender Whoopie” Cookies; Chocolate Sponge-Style Souffle; and Caramel and Chocolate Cheesecake.

The attendees tasted the output and were also provided with copies of recipes and cooking instructions for them to try in their own kitchens.

With an aim to target local tourism spots, the road show is next set in Boracay within this year with Palawan to follow later.
