WHO doesn’t love barbecue? It’s pretty simple to prepare. It doesn’t take forever to cook. And with the right recipe, it’s real tasty and a perfect complement to a cold beer or a couple of puso (hanging rice).

With Cebu home to hundreds of barbecue joints offering their own versions of good chicken or pork on skewers, one will have no problem finding a place that serves his taste well. Here are three popular and most friendly barbecue places in the city one should visit.

Larsian

Located at Fuente Osmeña, Larsian has been around for as long as anyone can remember that it’s practically a landmark. Almost everyone knows about this place and has eaten there at least once in his lifetime. Eating here is like a local’s rite of passage to citizenship. Rightly so, a tourist’s experience of Cebu isn’t complete without a quick stop.

With so many stalls available primarily selling barbecue delights at affordable price points in a laid-back setting, it’s a perfect place to enjoy some grilled eats with friends, family and visitors from different parts of the world.

Yakski Barbecue

Affordable and lip-smackingly delicious, Yakski has been one of the best barbecue joints in town since its birth in 2009. With meat purchased only from commendable and reputable suppliers, the staff at Yakski always has cleanliness in mind. With servers who wear sanitary masks to its utensils ready for use, one’s sure to enjoy Yakski’s delicious barbecue without worry. But the greatest thing about Yakski is the sauce. Since its inception, the sauce has always been an important aspect in Yakski’s food. Sweet and spicy, the sauce glorifies the meat and makes it even more flavorful. Yakski’s main outlet is located at 268-B Don Mariano Cui St., Cebu City.

Ned Nanay’s Grill

Operating since 1997, this barbecue joint boasts of meat that is served fresh on a daily basis. Ned Nanay’s Grill has gained a cult following over the years for its flavorful barbecue that does not rely solely on the sauce. The meat is cooked just right, never undercooked nor overcooked. What started as a small carenderia has grown into a backyard hangout that is packed with patrons each night. Their valued customers—a good mix of locals, foreigners, students and professionals—get to dine and chill as live acoustic music plays in the background. Ned Nanay’s Grill can also arrange boodle fights for those interested. It is open daily from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. at corner Jasmin and Don Mariano Cui Sts., Capitol Site, Cebu City.
